Jacobson, one of the writers and executive producers on the series alongside Mozart in the Jungle’s Will Graham, will play Carson Shaw. Shaw is a catcher from a tiny farm town, upending her life by chasing a dream she didn’t even know she had. Carden will portray Greta, a talented first basewoman. Off the field, Greta is effortless and adventurous. In addition to the previously announced names of Kelly McCormack, Gbemisola Ikumelo, and Priscilla Delgado, the two actresses will be joined by Chanté Adams and Roberta Colindrez. Melanie Field, star of Florida Girls, will have a recurring role.
Most of the actresses have a spot to occupy on the field. Adams will play a pitcher with a strong arm. Colindrez’s character is also a pitcher, described as having a killer poker face. McCormack plays the shortstop Jess, while Field’s character is a power hitter from Queens. Delgado and Ikumelo are noted to be playing a teenager and a budding artist, respectively.
